The NHS is the first healthcare system in the world to use the next generation, bivalent Covid-19 vaccine.
The adapted Covid-19 vaccine made by Moderna targets two different coronavirus variants – the original virus from 2020 and the Omicron variant.
NHS Kent and Medway’s autumn booster campaign began three weeks ago with care home residents and housebound patients the first to receive the vaccine.
The National Booking System is open for those who are most susceptible to serious illness from Covid-19. People aged 65 and over and frontline health and social care workers can book their booster vaccine.
NHS Kent and Medway Chief Medical Officer Dr Kate Langford said: “We have more than 70 clinics across Kent and Medway and staff trained and ready to vaccinate the most vulnerable in our communities.
“Covid-19 can make you very unwell so I would encourage everyone who is eligible to have their vaccine booster, that includes health and social care workers who can self-declare and book their vaccine appointment via the national booking system.”
