There's still time to get vaccinated

6 January 2025

Eligible residents who have not yet been vaccinated are being urged to boost their protection this winter with flu and Covid-19 vaccines.

Health chiefs are making the fresh appeal after 70 people spent Christmas Day in hospital with flu in Kent and Medway, according to NHS figures.

Those eligible include over 65s, pregnant women, people with certain underlying health conditions and frontline health and social care workers.

Flu vaccines are available from walk-in clinics, pharmacies and GP practices until the end of March. Children aged two and three-years-old can have the flu nasal spray at their GP practice.

Covid-19 vaccinations are available at walk-in clinics or pharmacies until the end of January.

Some people with chronic health conditions are at higher risk of serious illness from infections and are eligible for additional vaccines to help protect them. Check your eligibility on our website

Dr Kate Langford, Chief Medical Officer at NHS Kent and Medway, said: “People who are more likely to become very unwell from flu or Covid-19 are putting their health at risk by not taking up the vaccination offer.

“It is important to top up your protection, even if you have had a vaccine or been ill with flu or Covid-19 before, as immunity fades over time and these viruses change each year.

“Don’t put it off, get your Covid-19 and flu vaccines and boost your protection this winter.”
