NHS services affected by global IT issue

Systems are now back online following a global IT issue which affected some computer systems on Friday.

GP practices continue to see patients who need their specialist support for same-day care. Practice and hospital appointments are going ahead as planned, so please continue to attend unless you are told otherwise.

If you need help, or are unsure where to go, use 111 online or ask your pharmacist. Please do not call or attend emergency services for non-emergency reasons.

An NHS spokesperson said: “Thanks to the hard work of NHS staff throughout this incident we are hoping to keep further disruption to a minimum, however there still may be some delays as services recover, particularly with GPs needing to rebook appointments, so please bear with us.

“It’s important that patients attend appointments as normal unless told otherwise. You can contact your GP in the usual way, or use your local pharmacy, NHS 111 online or call 111 for urgent health advice.”

Looking after yourself

Most minor illnesses will get better without the need to visit a doctor and can be treated at home.

Get advice from your pharmacist at the first sign of feeling ill – don’t wait for it to get more serious. Use our map to find your nearest pharmacy.

If you have a suspected broken bone or fracture, a sprain or a strain, minor cut, burn or scald you can visit an urgent treatment centre. Find your nearest centre on our website.
