New building for Greensand Health Centre

28 November 2022

A new GP practice building is opening on Heath Road, Linton, near Maidstone.

Greensand Health Centre will be moving into the new building on Monday, 28 November. The new facility replaces the current premises at 146 Heath Road, Coxheath.

Juliette Norton, Practice Business Partner, said: “We cannot really express in words how excited, and relieved, we are to be moving into our new surgery, which we have worked so hard to achieve.  Our team here at Greensand Health Centre are passionate about healthcare and caring for our patients, this new surgery building opens up many new opportunities for the future.

“Extra clinical and non-clinical space will help us attract further staff to join the expanding team at Greensand Health Centre. As we grow, we can develop a new range of social and supportive activities.  In addition, we have a team of fantastic Patient Champions who are volunteering their time to support us and are equally passionate about supporting fellow patients and their local communities.”

Alison Burchell, Deputy Director of Primary Care at NHS Kent and Medway, said: “I’m pleased to see the practice opening the doors to its new building, which will provide the practice with additional capacity and enable them to provide an increasing range of service for current patients and support growth in the area.”

Internal artwork and final planting of the gardens and borders will be completed in the coming months. When ready, an “access all areas” open day for patients will be held.  This will give patients the opportunity to see the new surgery, meet the team and understand the services the practice provides. The day will also include some first aid and CPR demonstrations as well other interactive activities for all ages.

The main practice building, which this replaces, will be handed back to the landlord. The Loose branch surgery will remain open.

NHS Kent and Medway has worked closely with Maidstone Borough Council to agree the use of Section 106 contributions for this scheme, which was detailed as a key project in the council’s Infrastructure Delivery Plan. A total of 11 separate Section 106 healthcare contributions from housing developers, totalling £482,000, have been used towards the costs of building and installing the necessary IT infrastructure.
