Know where to go for NHS help this half-term

17 October 2024

Doctors in Kent and Medway are reminding parents and carers about where to go if they need NHS help during the school half-term.

The autumn school break is a busy time for NHS services and it’s important that people use the right service when they are ill or injured.

Make sure you have a well-stocked medicine cabinet at home, which should include paracetamol, cold remedies, plasters, tweezers and a thermometer.

If you have planned a trip away, pick up any prescription medications that you need in advance and take these with you.

If you or your children are not well, get advice from your pharmacist at the first sign of feeling ill – don’t wait for it to get more serious.

You can download the NHS toolkit for primary school children to access useful information about where to go for help, advice on common childhood health problems and items you should have at home.
