Easier than ever to be vaccinated this weekend

14 January 2022

The NHS is bringing the Covid-19 vaccine to the people of Kent and Medway this weekend to give every person the chance to be vaccinated, making sure we can have a more normal 2022 and get back to the things we love doing most.

There is ample capacity across the county for bookable jabs and walk-in clinics, but this weekend we’re bringing clinics to places people regularly go to – making it quicker and convenient for over 16s to get their first, second, or booster jab.

On Saturday, 15 and Sunday, 16 January, walk-in clinics will be held at:

  • Gillingham Football Club, Redfern Avenue, Gillingham ME7 2PE – Saturday, 15 January from 11.30am to 6.30pm
  • Former Ernest Jones store, Whitefriars Street, Whitefriars Shopping Centre, Canterbury, CT1 2TF – Saturday, 15 January 9.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday, 16 January 10am to 4pm
  • McDonald’s Snodland, Arc Logistics Park, Holborough Rd, Snodland, ME6 5SZ – Sunday, 16 January 10am to 4pm
  • Lock Meadow, Barker Rd, Maidstone, ME16 8SF – Saturday, 15 January 10am to 4pm
  • Ashford Designer Outlet Centre (opposite Tommy Hilfiger), Saturday, 15 January 12pm to 5pm
  •  St George's Centre, Gravesend, opposite Boots, Saturday, 15 January 10am to 2pm, Sunday, 16 January 10am till 3pm.

NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group Clinical Chair Dr Navin Kumta said: “We are always looking at new ways of getting to people who want to be vaccinated, but may not have done so yet. Making it as easy as possible means we hope more people will choose to have a vaccine against Covid-19. We will be providing first, second and booster vaccinations at our pop-up sites, so you can do what you normally do and grab a jab at the same time.’’

More than 82 per cent of the eligible population in Kent and Medway (1,010,411 people) have now had their booster vaccination and work continues to encourage those still to come forward to have their first, second or booster vaccination.

Medway Council’s Director of Public Health James Williams said: “I would encourage residents to come forward and get vaccinated as soon as they can. Getting vaccinated is the best thing you can do to protect yourself, and your family, from Coronavirus. It’s also vital that residents continue to follow the latest national guidance to protect themselves and the wider community. I would urge everyone to keep taking symptom-free tests, particularly when they may encounter situations of high risks during the day. We have a number of pop-in testing sites across Medway and residents can order testing kits on the government’s website or by calling 119.”
