If you are due your booster Covid-19 vaccination, now is the time to make sure you have yours.
NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group is asking people, who are eligible, to make sure they book their appointment and have the jab as soon as they receive their invitation.
More than 200,000 individuals will be eligible for their Covid-19 vaccination booster, which is the best way to keep you and your family safe through the winter, as well as help protect the NHS during its busiest time of the year.
The booster vaccine is available to any of the following groups, six months after the second dose:
- care home residents
- those who are clinically extremely vulnerable (including family they live with)
- those aged 50 or over
- front line health and social care workers.
All those eligible will be contacted by the NHS. This could be by letter, text message or a phone call from your GP.
Paula Wilkins, Chief Nurse, NHS Kent and Medway CCG, said “Having the booster jab is really important for those who are eligible. The protection offered by the first and second dose reduces over time and the booster will help keep them safe.
“Those who are eligible are typically at a higher risk of experiencing serious symptoms should they catch Covid-19, or work with vulnerable individuals. It’s important they have the booster to keep themselves and others safe.”
The National Booking Service opens up to 16 to 17-year-olds.
The National Booking Service (NBS) has now been opened up to 16 and 17-year-olds, who were using walk-in clinics. This means they can now book at one of more than 35 sites across Kent and Medway. 16 and 17-year-olds are being offered one dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Appointments for first, second and booster vaccines can be booked online or by phoning 119.
