A walk-in Covid-19 vaccination clinic is being held for anyone aged 40 and over at St Mary’s Island Community Centre in Chatham.
The clinic, which takes place on Saturday 29 May from 10am – 3pm, will be providingfirst doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine at the centre in Island Way West. No appointment is necessary but people attending must take a form of identification confirming their date of birth.
Paula Wilkins, Chief Nurse at NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Uptake of the vaccine across Kent and Medway has been excellent but in some areas not as many people have come forward as we would like. This clinic gives people the chance to get their vaccine if they can’t travel to other sites.
“The Covid-19 vaccine can help stop you getting seriously ill or dying from coronavirus. All of the vaccines in use are safe and effective, so if anybody who is eligible hasn’t been vaccinated yet, please protect yourself, your friends and family and our communities against this devastating virus.”
Those aged 32-39 can book an appointment online at nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119. The national booking system will only display appointments where the Pfizer vaccine is available to those under 40.
More than one million first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have now been delivered at GP-led sites, large vaccination centres, community pharmacies and hospital hubs across Kent and Medway.
Everyone will receive a health status check and a pre-vaccination assessment before they have their jab. Vaccinations are being offered to people in line with independent advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.
