One-year anniversary of vaccination programme
Wednesday 8 December, marked 12 months since the first vaccination against Covid-19 was given in the UK. In Kent and Medway, in the past 12 months, more than three million vaccinations have been given: 1.8million doses by GP-led teams, more than half a million by large vaccination centres and a further 500,000 by community-led pharmacies. Our latest statistics
- 3,237,876 total doses, of which 609,043 are third booster doses
- 90% of cohorts 1-9 have had two doses
- 69% of everyone over 18 have had two doses
- 63% of 16 to 17-year-olds have had one dose
- 47% of 12 to 15-year-olds have had one dose
Booster stats:
- 51% of those eligible have had their booster*
- 86% of cohorts 1-4 have had their booster
- 69% of cohorts 1-9 have had their booster
*the percentage has dropped from previous weeks due to the extension of the booster programme to everyone aged 18+
Over 40s can book boosters 3 months after second dose
The national booking service has been updated so all eligible adults aged 40 and over can now get their life-saving booster jab three months (91 days) on from their second dose. The system will give people access to make a booking from two months (61 days) after their second dose.
The NHS will offer everyone aged 18 and over the opportunity to book their booster jab by the end of January 2022.
In line with the updated JCVI guidance, we are inviting people most at risk from the virus first and will open up bookings in stages based on age.
