Accessing NHS services over summer bank holiday

16 August 2024

The NHS is encouraging patients to choose services wisely over the summer bank holiday.

The long weekend is a busy time for NHS services and it’s important to choose the right service if you are ill or injured.

Make sure you plan ahead and order any repeat prescriptions early, as GP practices and some pharmacies will be closed on Monday, 26 August.

Get advice from your pharmacist at the first sign of feeling ill – don’t wait for it to get more serious. Use our map to view bank holiday opening times.

Visit an urgent treatment centre if you have a suspected broken bone or fracture, a sprain or a strain, minor cut, burn or scald. Find your nearest centre on our website.

If you need urgent medical help but you're not sure where to go, use NHS 111 to get assessed and directed to the right place for you.
